ChloraPrep promotes adherence to infection control protocols for patient preoperative skin preparation. The 2% chlorhexidine gluconate and 70% isopropyl alcohol formulation provides rapid-acting and persistent antiseptic activity against a broad spectrum of microorganisms. The applicators’ soft sponge promotes a gentle-friction scrub that allows the solution to penetrate the first five cell layers of the epidermis where 80% of microorganisms reside.1 This helps reduce skin microorganisms that can cause bloodstream infections (BSIs) and surgical site infections (SSIs). In addition, the applicator design eliminates direct hand-to-patient contact, helping prevent cross contamination.
