Building a company with vision

Joe Brandmeyer founded Medi-Flex Hospital Products in 1985 with an entrepreneurial vision and the support of his mentor, the late Ewing Kauffman. The privately held medical company, known today as Enturia, has grown from two antiseptic applicators to a full range of products.

1985      Founded as Medi-Flex by Joe Brandmeyer

He started the company by purchasing two antiseptic applicators from an international pharmaceutical company

1987      Manufacturing and distribution center relocated to El Paso, Texas

1991      Acquired IV kit business from a Johnson & Johnson division

1999      Became ISO 9002 Certified for meeting quality standards

2000      FDA approved ChloraPrep® 3mL applicator

ChloraPrep, a 2% chlorhexidine gluconate and 70% isopropyl alcohol solution, and its applicators provide a proven system for patient preoperative skin preparation

2001      Divested IV kit business

2005      Expanded El Paso, Texas manufacturing facility

Expansion increased manufacturing production capacity

2005      Achieved ISO 9001–2000 certification

Received certification for the manufacturing and distribution center’s fully auditable quality management system and ISO 13488 for meeting international standards

2005      Launched 10.5mL tinted applicator

The ChloraPrep 10.5mL Applicator is used as a patient preoperative skin preparation for medical procedures such as prosthetic device placement and removal. Its tint aids in site visualization and efficient disinfection prior to invasive procedures

2005      FDA approved 26mL tinted applicator for operating rooms is launched

The ChloraPrep 26mL Applicator, is used for implantable device placements, CVC catheter placements, cardiac catheterizations and other major procedures

2005      Jim Mitchum joined company, serving as CEO and president today

2005      UK MHRA approved 1.5mL applicator

2006      Opened Enturia Ltd. office in Reigate, Surrey (London)

Launched ChloraPrep in United Kingdom

Within five months, more than 30% of the total acute hospital trusts in the United Kingdom approved and ordered ChloraPrep

2006      Repositioned the company as Enturia Inc.

The new name encompasses the company's global vision and commitment to develop innovative preventative healthcare solutions

2006      Company revenues exceed $100 million

2006      Enturia receives two industry awards from Cardinal Health

Cardinal Health is one of the largest distributors of pharmaceuticals and medical supplies in the world

2006      UK MHRA approved 3mL clear applicator.

2007      UK MHRA approved Sepp®, Frepp®, 10.5mL and 26mL clear               applicators

2007      Enturia and Brandmeyer family jointly fund patient resource center

Named for Enturia's founder, the Brandmeyer Patient Resource Center, part of the University of Kansas Hospital, provides accurate and clear information for cancer patients and their families



FDA is the Food and Drug Administration.

MHRA is the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency.
